Our weekend

I know I have been lax in updating the blog. I mean really lax. We have been just so busy and I am usually too tired to blog at night. This past weekend we spent on the Tygart River.
My dad (step-dad) grew up going to this house in the summers. His brother had polio and had one leg shorter than the other. His parents built the house so that Bill could swim in the river for exercise for his legs. (mom feel free to correct that if I am wrong)I spent many weekends as a kid swimming in the river and playing in the yard. I even lived there for a short while during college. It is my brother's summer camp now and he lived there for about 3 years. He now lives in Germany (soon to be Bavaria). My mother thought it was best to clean it and close it up. For some reason, she had a change of heart and decided it was better off being used. I was thrilled to hear that and packed our bags and off we went! I couldn't wait for Brady to enjoy the weekend on the river. We had a blast. The Voso family joined us and there was laughter and fun ringing through the camp all weekend. It would have made Daddo so happy to know we were there and having fun. The dock is in horrible shape. We will get down there soon and get it repaired. We did however manage to navigate it enough to put the canoes in the water and let the kids have some fun.
Brady and Dylan paddled their own canoe. I was super impressed. They are naturals. I don't think I could have paddled a canoe when I was seven. Jack and Elizabeth supervised their trip to snake rock for a swim. We cooked out on Saturday evening and then cleaned up the house and packed it up to return home on Sunday.
I can't wait to enjoy many, many more weekends at Daddo's camp. I put together a montage from the weekend. My nephew told me, "we only have memories Mimi, because you didn't take pictures our first night here." So, I did my best at capturing the weekend. Note in the pictures with Brady and Dylan in the canoe: the front of the canoe doesn't even touch the water. Michael thought that was hysterical. Dylan outweighs Brady by about 80lbs so the front of the canoe was raised out of the water. They did a great job!
